One of many dropped to resupply the Airborne forces during Operation Market Garden 17th to 25th September 1944. Containing everything from food to ammunition & medical supplies these containers were to keep the troops equipped until they could meet up with ground forces. Unfortunately, there were heavy losses due to intense German flak & with tactical changes on the ground not much of the critical supplies reached the troops.
This in solid but rusted condition, has been cleaned and oiled.
