This is a nice find from the battlefield and very rare to find a complete unfired British 18 pounder high explosive shell.The projectile still has its brass driving band in place. Its nice brass colour the outer case is pitted and discolored but with no holes or damage the fuse which is its shiny brass colour and screws in and out of the projectile perfectly with all of its maker markings and dated March 1916 and screws in and out perfectly. The brass shell case is its nice brass shiny colour but with some discolored and all of its markings and dated 1916 it has a small crack in the top neck projectile is completely empty and inert it has been well cleaned and overall perfect condition for display and very rare one for any collection being high explosive.The shell was found on The Somme battlefield of 1916-1918 and comes with an A5 laminated information card.
