This is a cloth covered[Tarnbezig] which the cloth is in nice solid condition not badly damaged and has what looks like maker stamp on the side German soldiers complete M1916 steel helmet lovely fantastic condition. This very rare steel helmet which is a size 66 which is stamped inside with most of original green paintwork remains which is very clear see on the inside the helmet obviously the out side is covered with the cloth. The helmet is not even pitted let alone rust and inside has the remains of chin strap on one side. The helmet has no rust holes or damage at all and the very rare bit is the complete leather liner which is solid still original colour overall lovely condition and is maker stamped as well, it has been very nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection. This M16 steel helmet was found on the Somme battlefield 1916-18. The helmet was in a private collection on the Somme and was bought over to England in the early 2000’s where it has been in a private collection again ever since.
The helmet comes with 3xA5 laminated information cards with many pictures including detailed pictures of the cloth cover and map.
