This is a rare relic from the Blitz in London: the steel outer casing of a 2 kg B-2 incendiary bomb.

The German B-2 incendiary bomb (also referred to as the B2EZ or similar variants such as the B1E) was a 1–2 kg aerial device used by the Luftwaffe in large-scale firebombing campaigns. Designed with a thermite-filled magnesium body, these bombs were typically dropped in clusters from canisters to ignite widespread fires across urban areas.

This example is the empty outer casing, with no tail fin and only light surface pitting. It did not detonate and is now fully inert due to its condition.

The casing remains solid and in good relic condition, with traces of original paint still visible inside and remnants of black paint on the exterior. It has been carefully cleaned and presents well, making it suitable for display or inclusion in a collection.

This particular casing was dropped over the Lewisham area of London during the Blitz (1940–1941) and was later recovered during building work in the late 1980s.

The steel outer case comes with 2 A5 laminated information cards with pictures and diagram.
