This is a complete conical French 155mm high explosive shell projectile, which is in lovely condition with the fuse is in lovely condition. The steel case still has some original black paintwork remains. It still has its brass driving band in place. Its nice brass colour the outer case is only lightly pitted with no holes or damage the fuse which is its shiny brass colour and screws in and out of the projectile perfectly. The projectile is completely empty and inert it has been well cleaned and overall perfect condition for display and very rare one for any collection.
The shell was found many years ago on the Somme battlefield of 1916-1918 and has been in a private collection ever since and comes with a A5 laminated information card.
