Very large section of 15mm armoured plate from the hull top with lots of paintwork from Panzer 2 tank recovered near the town of Kalach in the battle of July-August 1942 at Stalingrad
This is a blown apart massive heavy section of 15mm armoured plate from the hull top on a Panzer 2 tank The armour section has some shiny weld remains on one side it is in relic but solid condition it does still have a lot of original 1942 pattern Dunkelgelb paintwork and some red undercoat paintwork left on it clear to see it is rusty but solid and has been very well cleaned up the part has ripped apart and is 19 inches long by 15 inches wide and perfect for display or any collection. The armour section was recovered from the site of a destroyed Panzer 2 tank in the 14th Panzer Division recovered near the town of Kalach in the area they captured in the battle of July-August 1942 on the Stalingrad front in Russia.
The plate comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards.
The Battle of Kalach took place between the German Sixth Army and elements of the Soviet Stalingrad Front between July 25 and August 11, 1942. The Soviets deployed the 62nd and 64th Armies in a Don River bridgehead west of Kalach with the intent of impeding the German advance on Stalingrad which they managed to do for a few weeks before they were destroyed or captured by the German 6th Army then they advanced to Stalingrad.
