Totally rare tail wheel centre hub with some paintwork remains German Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet, recovered from an old dump site on old Luftwaffe airfield at Brandis
This is a totally rare recognisable part from a German Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet. This is a tail wheel centre hub that has no tyre and look like it has burnt in a fire. The wheel hub is in nice condition still with lots of original black paintwork very clear to see it does not have much rust damage and has no rust holes it still has its centre wheel bearing in place it has been very well cleaned and retains a lot of original colour it is still nice and solid and is perfect for display or any collection The wheel is 7 half inches wide and 6 inches high in size. This is the first time ever I have had apart from one of these famous jet fighters it is from German Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet recovered from an old dump site on the old Luftwaffe airfield at Brandis near Leipzig which based Messerschmitt Me 163 Komets from mid-1944.The wheel comes with 2 x A5 laminated information sheets with pictures of the airfield.
Home base for the I./JG400 (first group of the 400th Fighter Wing), the Luftwaffe's first dedicated Komet wing. It served as the base from July 1944 until the end of the war. The first combat operations with the Me 163B took place from Brandis in July 1944.
