This is a very rare radar part from a German nightfighter it is a Luftwaffe FuG 220 Lichtenstein SN-2 (Hirschgeweih) airborne radar antenna support frame.
This is a complete antenna still has most of its original colours and is aluminium and steel made the different parts still move not rusted solid it is rusty in a few places and with no real paintwork remains left it has been nicely cleaned, and it is in nice solid condition perfect for display or any collection. The antenna is 44 inches long and 4 inches wide at the base of it.This rare part is from German Junkers ju88 night fighter of 4./NJG 3 B4+OA shot down by return fire from a RAF Lancaster bomber on the 25th April 1945.The night fighter crashed at Iveland Aust-Agder in Norway.The part comes with 3xA5 laminated information cards with pictures and diagrams.
This nightfighter, based at Kjevik, was shot down by RAF Lancaster bomber of 463.Squadron RAAF at 23:01pm on that night. The burning Ju88 crashed near by the farm Åmland. The badly burnt bodies of the crew were found the next day.Feldwebel [Flight Sergeant] Kurt Gross. a Unteroffizier [Sargeant] Reinhard Johnsen. Feldwebel [Flight Sergeant]. Otto Müller.
The Lancaster, RA542 code JO-Z, was also badly hit by the Junkers "Schräge Musik",and F/O A Cox had to make a forced landing at Sätenäs airport in Sweden.
