Small reduction gear from the main crank shaft on DB601 Daimler-Benz engine on German Messerschmitt bf109 work number 3784, Hauptmann Wilhelm Ensslen shot down, 2nd November 1940,Battle of Britain
This is a very rare large recognizable part from a battle of Britain Messerschmitt 109 .This is the small reduction gear from the main crank shaft on DB601 Daimler-Benz engine as shown on the 3rd card diagram marked with red square.This large fairly heavy part which is pretty much undamaged by the impact of the crash it still has lots original colour all over it is a bit dirty but not much pitting or discolor from being buried nothing to bad at all and has been very well cleaned and is a lovely part of internal engine and a large size at is 7 inches wide by 6 inches tall and a nice one for display and a very rare one for any collection.The engine part comes from German Messerschmitt bf109 work number 3784 flown by Hauptmann Wilhelm Ensslen who was Gruppenkommandeur of stab 2/JG52 he was shot down on the 2nd November 1940 during the Battle of Britain.
The plane was shot down in a dog fight with RAF Spitfire flown by Squadron Leader J.A Kent of Number 92 squadron the plane crashed at Burmarsh Halt near Dymchurch in Kent. Wilhelm Ensslen bailed out but was killed on Landing.The part comes with 3 x A5 laminated information sheets with pilots photograph and diagram.
