Large airframe structure section with wire runner and paintwork from Russian Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik 218263 shot down by German ace Jakob Norz on 16 September 1944 in Norway

This is a nice section of airframe from this most very famous of Russian aircraft .This is a large size steel and aluminium airframe structure section it is a solid structure part a few bits still riveted together with a wire runner that still has wire attached with some of its original dull yellow undercoat paintwork only used by the Russian airfroce and green camoufalage paintwork very clear to see it still retains a lot of original colour it has ripped and bent by the impact of the crash it is in nice clean condition but does have some rust in places but is perfect for display or any collection and is 13 inches long and 4 inches wide. The airframe structure part was recovered from Russian Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik ground attack aircraft VVS SF 46. ShAP serial 2118283, shot down by German ace [Leutnant] Lieutenant Jakob Norz in his Messerschmitt 109 which this aircraft shot down by its return fire from the rear gunner on the on the 16th September 1944 and crashed at Gerdusjav'ri,Finnmark,Norway. The part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures of the crash site. The part has come from a private collection which the items were collected many years ago directly from the crash sites he visited and found including surface finds or some aircraft that were dug out and recovered all these parts now available for the first time.

The pilot was Lieutenant. B V Titov was killed in the crash, and the Gunner Sargent Minejev was taken prisoner.

The ground attack bomber was shot down in air battle over Ropelv by Leutnant."Jochel" Norz of 11. Staffel JG 5. The burning Shturmovik performed a forced landing on wheels, near Ropelv. The aircraft of Jakob Norz was also hit and crashed near by killing the famous ace. This was his 117th. and last victory.

The wounded pilot Lt.Titov was killed in the rough landing, but Sgt.Ju. I Minejev survived. Minejev tragically killed two Norwegian grouse hunters later the same day. Olaf Lamo and Odin Larsen were shot dead by Minejev at Store Ropelvvatn. German forces searching for Norz and the Ilyushin aircraft, found Minejev at the crash site together with his dead pilot. He became POW with an uncertain future.
