Rare near complete rubber tyre from the tail wheel from German Fieseler Storch Fi 156 work number 1411 W5+BK protecting battleship Tirpitz when it crashed on the 8th May 1944 in Norway

This is a very rare find which is a near complete tail wheel tyre which has most of its maker markings and has part numbers clear to see. The tyre has been well used and has some damage from the impact of the crash with some splits, but it is still very solid condition not braking up or falling apart it is 12 inches wide in size. This is is a rare one for any collection and is perfect for display. The tyre comes from German Fieseler Storch Fi 156 F-1 of Stab Jafu Norwegen, work number 1411 W5+BK protecting battleship Tirpitz when it crashed on the 8th May 1944 at Fættenfjord, Nord-Trøndelag in Norway. The tyre comes with 3xA5 laminated information cards with crash site pictures.

The aircraft flew into one of the three air defence cable placed across the narrow Vuddu valley to protect "Tirpitz", during flight from Værnes to Hattfjelldal.

Oberleutant Bolz Gerhard, Obergefreiter Sigel Walther (eikeløvsbærer) Hilburg, Gustav. All buried at Havstein Cemetery. The Storch had been coming low into the fjord, and had hit one of the vertical wires attached to the main horizontal wire. Its propeller had then twisted up the wire, the plane was hanging for some seconds before falling into the ground with its tail down. It hit the ground few meters above the railway line
