This is a steel and aluminium made massive part which is the Starboard [right] hand side outer landing gear door
This large reganisable solid part which is lots of bits still riveted and bolted together.The part still has some of its nice original colour with black paintwork remains and a very large size part which not the complete door.The section which is in nice condition with lots of original shiny aluminium colour but the steel part is rusty the whole section has ripped and bent by the impact crash it is in relic but solid condition and has been nicely cleaned perfect for display or any collection and is 36 inches long by 13 inches in size. The part comes with 3xA5 laminated information cards with pictures including pictures of the door in place on the aircraft..
The part comes from German Messerschmitt ME110 work number 3201 code 3M+LH of 1/ZG2 which was shot down eagle day on the 13th August 1940 during the first day of the Battle of Britain.
This Messerschmitt 110 of (1st Gruppe, Zerstörergeschwader 2) which was on a escort sortie for Junkers ju88 bombers of KG51 over the Winchester area when it was shot down by RAF hurricane fighters. It was attacked by sergeant L.N.Guy of 601 Squadron. The fighter/bomber crashed and burned out at North Baddersley the pilot Leutnant Munchmeyer baled out badly wounded, his gunner Unteroffizier Labusch was killed in the action. The Messerschmitt 110 was shot down on 13th August 1940 during the battle of Britain.
On the 13th August 1940, known as Adlertag or "Eagle Day", this unit suffered several losses while attempting to provide weather and target reconnaissance for the Luftwaffe's major offensive against RAF airfields
The engines and other parts of this Messerschmitt Bf 110C-4 (Work Number 3201) were recovered from the crash site at North Baddersley in July 1993
