Rare late war near complete/damaged Russian 85mm steel shell case,recovered from the site of a destroyed soviet T-34-85 tank of 1st Guards tank Army,North of Town of Seelow on April 1945 battlefield

This is a rare late war made battle damaged Russian 85mm steel shell case these cases made of steel were mass produced from late 1942.

The case is impact damaged whiich has bent up proberly from when fired in the breach of the gun which has none original markings on the base can be seen. The case is in nice solid condition for a steel case battlefield recovered with some rust holes and missing part of the case at the top which has rusted away it is not braking up or falling apart it has been very nicely cleaned perfect to display or any collection. This shell case was recovered from the site of a destroyed soviet T-34-85 tank. The tank was with the 1st Guards tank Army and was knocked out North of the Town of Seelow itself which they captured with infantry support on the 17th April 1945 during Seelow Heights offensive.The shell case comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with a map.

Seelow (Town) was captured on April 17 with the 8th Guards Army infantry doing the heavy urban clearing, Katukov’s tanks of 1st Guards army flanked the town to the north and south, helping to break German resistance and secure the town by early afternoon.
