This is a very rare find especially in this condition German MG42 machine gun side car or vehicle mount. The mount retains lots rare 1942-pattern Dunkelgelb (sand colour) paintwork and some original colour. The stand is complete with its moving gears it does have a bit of damage from being buried with some knocks and dents.The part has rusted solid but is only very lightly rusty and pitted with more deep cleaning with chemicals it might even move again as it is very solid not braking up or falling apart. It has been carefully cleaned and is now perfect for display or as a rare addition to any collection.The stand which is 12 inches long and a very iconic and recognizable part.The stand was recovered near the village of Honsfield in the Losheim gap attacked by the 6th SS Panzer Army on the 16th December 1944 at the start of the Ardennes offensive in the Forest during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944-45.The stand comes with 3 x A5 laminated information cards, including multiple photograph and map.
