This is a rare to find armour part from the very famous Ju87 stuka shot down in the Battle of Britain.The part is a ripped apart section of armoured plate from the rear gunner’s defensive side protection .The armour section with no real paintwork remains that is in relic but solid condition it is rusty but solid and has been very well cleaned up the part has ripped apart in the crash and is 10 inches long by 3 inches wide and perfect for display or any collection.The part is from German Ju87b-1 stuka dive bomber of 3/STG77 which was shot down at 2.30pm on the 18th August 1940 and crashed at Chidham in Sussex, during the hardest day of the battle of Britain.The plate comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with diagram and picture of the crash site taken that day.

The pilot, Oberleutnant Hans-Jakob Schäffer, and his wireless operator/gunner, Unteroffizier Ewald Klotmann, were both listed as missing following the engagement. The aircraft crash site is located at North Barn in Chidham, West Sussex, near Chichester.

The shattered remains of the Junkers Jumo 211 engine and a 250 kg bomb were excavated from the site in October 1972 by the Kent Battle of Britain Museum. The bomb was later rendered harmless by a Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal Team from Chatham, and the aircraft’s serial number tag was discovered at the location in 1984.
