Pair of flare cases dated October 1944 recovered from the site of destroyed German Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer tank destroyer that was knocked out near Wiltz in the Ardennes forest in 1944

This is a Pair of aluminium made flare cases both maker marked and dated October 1944. The flare cases both have some damage with impact dents on the side They are in relic but very nice solid condition still with there original colours and markings clear to see. They have been very well cleaned and are perfect for display or any collection. The cases were recovered from the site of destroyed German Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer tank destroyer of Panzer-Jager-Abteilung 741 part of the 7th Army. The Hetzer was knocked out near the Town of Wiltz in The Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945 in Belgium.The cases come with A5 laminated information card.

Panzer Jager Abteilung 741 for the Ardennes offensive was assigned to the LIII Army corps in the Wehrmacht 7th Army on December 23, 1944. under the 7th Army and took part in the fighting southeast of Bastogne and the retreat with the corps as far as the Vianden area (west of Bitburg).This Hetzer was involved in fighting around the town of Wiltz on the Belgium-Luxembourg border the area was attacked and captured by the German 5th Parachute Division on 16-18th December 1944.The 7th Army as a whole took substantial losses as it defended against the northward attack of the US 3rd Army, but ultimately failed to halt General George S Patton's drive to Bastogne and Houffalize. The 7th Army, however, managed to avoid encirclement and retreated again to the westwall.
