Original Imperial German M1907/10 Infantry Krätzchen Field Cap

£325.00
Only 1 available

A Imperial German M1907/10 Infantry Krätzchen (field cap), retaining its original field-grey wool construction with the distinctive red infantry band and matching red piping. Worn by German enlisted men and NCOs during the First World War, the Krätzchen became one of the most recognisable items of Imperial German military headgear.

Presented in honest, untouched condition, the cap retains both of its period cockades, each displaying attractive age-related wear and paint loss consistent with more than a century of age. The original field-grey wool body remains in very good condition with no significant moth damage, allowing the cap to retain an excellent display appearance.

The interior is fitted with its original linen lining, showing the expected age, wear and light soiling associated with genuine wartime use and long-term storage. No visible depot or manufacturer markings remain, which is not uncommon on surviving examples of Imperial German cloth headgear.

Unlike many surviving examples encountered today, this cap has escaped the heavy moth damage often associated with First World War wool headgear and remains a very appealing collector's piece. It has not been restored or cosmetically enhanced, preserving its originality and character.
