The Arbeitsbuch was issued on 29 November 1935 and records his employment as a commercial clerk/office assistant with the Villeroy & Boch Mosaic Tile Factory in Merzig, one of Germany's best-known ceramic manufacturers. His employment is recorded as ending on 31 March 1938, at which point he may have gone on to military service. Research suggests he could have been associated with the 34th Infantry Division, which recruited and mobilised in this area during 1938.

The book is complete and presented in very good original condition. Apart from an ink stain to the rear cover, it remains free from damage. Inside are numerous original stamps, entries and official markings, all of which remain clear and easy to read.
