This is a Norwegian army issue soldiers’ equipment frame captured and re used by the Wehrmacht used by a German soldier in the 116th Panzer Division.
The rack is not complete missing most of its leather work and largely undamaged, measuring 15 inches long by 6 inches wide. The rack still has lots of yellow paintwork remains and 1 leather strap attached, the frame while rusty, it remains very solid. The relic has been carefully cleaned and is ideal for display or any collection. The rack was from the Village of Mont near Houffalize in the Ardennes Forest used during the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945.The item comes with two laminated A5 information cards with diagram and pictures.
The frame with other parts was taken from a abandoned German vehicles in the village of Mont which is just North of Houffalize. The frame was taken of the vehicle in around 1946-1948 by a local farmer and was used on his farm for many years until it was found by a local collector who had it in his private collection until 2020 when it left the Ardennes area for the first time since the war.
