This is a French 37mm shell fired by Hotchkiss cannon The projectile still has its brass driving band in place its nice brass colour the outer case is pitted and bit discolored but has some original black paint remains but with no holes or damage the projectile does not go into the case perfectly as the neck is slightly damaged. The brass shell case is its nice brass shiny colour but with some discolor on the bottom and all of its markings and dated July 1916 the projectile and case is completely empty and inert it has been well cleaned and overall perfect condition for display and very rare one for any collection.The shell was found on The Somme battlefield of 1916-1918 and comes with an A5 laminated information card.
