Nice clean World War 1 French 75mm high explosive shell captured and re used by the Wehrmacht as the Pak 97/38 anti-tank gun found in Belgium used in 1944 late war battles
This is a nice find and unusual to find World War 1 French 75mm high explosive shell captured after the fall of France in 1940.Then re used by the Wehrmacht as the Pak 97/38 anti-tank gun in World War 2
The shell case is in very nice condition but with some discolor but nothing to bad the case still retains most of its brass colour with some of its maker markings. The projectile and case are completely empty and inert.The projectile still has its brass driving band in place which is unfired which rarer to find it is its nice brass colour the outer case is only lightly pitted with no holes or damage as it has been filled and overprinted the fuse sits in there nearly perfectly and does screw in and out perfectly fine the fuse which is its shiny brass colour with some maker markings they have been well cleaned and overall perfect condition for display and very rare one for any collection.The shell shell was found in Belgium properly used in 1944 the battles in the late war. and comes with an A5 laminated information card.
The Wehrmacht utilized a total of 3,712 7.5cm Pak 97/38 guns converted from captured French matériel between 1942 and 1943. These guns served as an interim anti-tank solution on the Eastern Front and in other theatres until the end of the war, with 145 still in service as of March 1, 1945. Production Volume: 2,854 pieces were delivered in 1942, with another 858 following in 1943, totalling 3,712. The German Pak 97/38 were found in action on the Siegfried Line fortifications and on the Western Front and a small number were involved in the Ardennes campaign in late 1944.
