This is a fantastic condition and rare to find Luftwaffe bombsight control selector assembly from the Carl Zeiss Lotfernrohr 7(Lotfe 7) bombsight from the cockpit inside Heinkel He 111 which was shot down during the battle of Britain.
The part is complete still with all its original steel and brass made colours and with some of its original numbers still clear to see as well it has been very well cleaned with very little damage from being buried protected inside the site. The part which is 2 inches long in size and is from inside the cockpit of German Heinkel 111 bomber of 4/KG53 number 5536. The pilot lost his bearings, and the crew abandoned the aircraft at 01.07am on the morning of 29th October 1940 and crashed at Harwich in Essex during Battle of Britain.The part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with diagram picture of the part in place in the cockpit.
The crew abandoned the plane believing that they were over Holland. The plane was on a bombing sortie to bomb Gravesend Aerodrome. The plane crashed in the River Stour near Parkeston Quay at Harwich in Essex. The crew Obereldwebel K.Penzel bailed out and was captured unhurt. Oberfeldwebel H.Metzger,Unteroffizier F.Sigger,Unteroffizier J.Klitscher and Unteroffizier H.Luddecke all bailed out and were captured; slightly injured.
