This is a lovely relic condition fired by 20mm steel cannon shell case fired by German 20mm flak 30/38 anti-aircraft gun the most famous of the German anti-aircraft guns.. The case is steel made and are in nice relic but solid condition. It has have some of its original markings including eagle on the bottom that can be seen. The shell case still has lots of original shiny colour and brass wash colour that can be seen very clearly. It is only lightly rusty with a few small rust holes and dents and bit of damage to neck but they still very nice overall and are not breaking up or falling apart. The case been very well cleaned and are perfect to display or a nice one for any collection.
The case was recovered from a lake East of Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45. The case comes with A5 laminated information card with close up pictures of the base and all the information and translation on what the markings mean displayed next to the pictures.
The shell case was recovered from a lake which was used as a dump site for battlefield clearance the area where the lake is, was attacked by the German 26th Volksgrenadier Division and elements of the Panzer Lehr Division they had most of the troops in the area
