Lovely condition Supermarine wing root fairing panel RAF Spitfire number MK 796 of Royal Canadian Airforce 421 squadron shot down on the 25th July 1944 during the air war over Normandy

This is a a lovely recognizable part which is a Supermarine wing root fairing panel on the very famous RAF Spitfire which there is not much about these days.

This large aluminium panel which is has all of its original paintwork and lots of its original colour and is only very lightly discolored from being buried .The part is a couple of parts riveted together it has only very lightly ripped and bent up by the impact of the crash it is in nice solid condition the part has been very nicely cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection the part is 10 inches long and 5 inches wide. The part comes from RAF Spitfire number MK 796 was a 421 ("Red Indian") Squadron Royal Canadian Airforce aircraft of 421 squadron. The pilot was Flight Officer F.W Ward he was shot down on the 25th July 1944 during the air war over Normandy.This item includes 2 x A5 laminated information cards with pictures.

The spitfire was hit by German flak while attacking a train near Sizun and crashed at Domfront near Falaise in Normandy.Number 421 Squadron was a Canadian squadron, often flying Spitfire Mk IXs and XVIs during the European campaign, specialized in fighter-bomber operations.
