This is a American 250kg bomb fin that was recovered in the 1970’s from RAF Thorpe Abbotts near Diss in Norfolk which was used by the RAF in 1942 until June 1943 when American B17 bombers of the 100th Bomb group were based there.
The fin was used by the man who found it for many years on his front doorstep with a lid cover over the middle of it. used to hold milk bottles delivered by the milk man.
The fin which is 30 inches tall by 12 inches wide and has been over painted black and is in lovely condition originally when found it is in relic but solid condition it was rusty and still a bit pitted but not to bad at all and is not braking up or falling apart and has been very well cleaned and perfect for display or a unusual bit for any collection.The fin comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures.
