This is a Large fragment of exploded case from a RAF Tallboy bomb which there is very little around now these days.

The aerial bomb case fragment has been treated with rust remover chemical to help preserve it which is now only has very light rust on it and is in relic but solid condition and a thick case section it has been very well cleaned up with sharp jagged edges it is 7 inches long by 4 inches wide and is perfect for display or any collection. The part was recovered in the 1970’s from a Tallboy bomb crater on the old Ashley walk bombing range which is Northwest of the New Forest in Hampshire.

The Ashley Walk Bombing Range in the New Forest features significant WW2 bomb craters, including remnants of tests for the 6-ton Tallboy "earthquake bomb" near the "sub pens" target. The site famously hosted the first test of the 10-ton Grand Slam bomb in March 1945, which left a massive crater nearby.

Tallboy Crater: Located immediately east of the "sub pens" target (SU199140), this crater is a remnant of the 6-ton deep-penetration bomb tests.

Grand Slam Bomb: Often confused with the Tallboy, the larger 10-ton Grand Slam crater is located roughly 200m from the Submarine Pens (sub pens) target. This 1945 test left a hole 130ft wide and 70ft deep.
