Large engine pipe section with red paintwork from an engine on German Heinkel He 111 bomber number 2624 of 8/KG27 which was shot down on 14th of August 1940 during the Battle of Britain
The part is a large aluminium made pipework section which has a brass fitting at one end.The pipe section still has lots of original red paintwork which has ripped off at one end it is partly corroded but very solid and still has lots of its red undercoat primer paintwork in place. It is in relic condition but not breaking up or crumbling. It has been very well cleaned and is perfect for display or any collection and a nice part at 23 inches long by 1 half inches wide.The part comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with pictures of the crash site taken the morning of the crash.
The part is from German Heinkel He 111 bomber work number 2624 of 8/KG27 which was shot down at 9pm on 14th of August 1940 while attacking Hawarden airfield. The bomber was intercepted by RAF Hurricanes of number 213 squadron and RAF Spitfires of number 7 squadron. The German bomber crashed landed with all crew taken prisoner at Border house farm near Chester during a late evening raid in the Battle of Britain.
The bomber was shot down by RAF pilot Wing Commander J.Hallings-Pott also Squadron Leader J.McLean and Pilot Officer P.Ayerst. The crew taken Prisoner were Oberleutnant A.Wiesemann,Feldwebel H.Rodder,Unteroffizier W.Schaum also Unteroffizier G.Ullmann and Unteroffizier H.Kochy.
