Large aluminium airframe structure part from a German V1 rocket recovered near village of Billum, Denmark, on 27th March 1945.
This is an aluminium airframe structure part from the interior of a wing. It retains much of its original finish, with some areas of grey paintwork and a large section of bare aluminium. The part is in good condition, having been torn from the rocket during the explosion and crash. Though it is a relic, it is solid, well-preserved, and has been carefully cleaned making it ideal for display or any collection. The piece measures 13 inches long by 7 inches wide and is extremely rare, as V1 parts of this size are hard to find.
This particular piece was recovered from the crash site of a German V1 rocket that fell north of the village of Billum, Denmark, on 27th March 1945. The flying bomb reportedly approached from a south-easterly direction around 19:00 hrs and impacted approximately 15 meters west of Trvevejen road, about 3 kilometres north of Billum. It exploded on impact, scattering debris over a wide area. Some parts were recovered immediately, while others were found many years later, in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The item comes with two laminated A5 information cards, including a diagram showing exactly where the part was located on the rocket, marked with a coloured box.
