Very rare German MG15 flexible machine gun mount cradle from cockpit of German Dornier DO 217 bomber work number 5591 on the night of the 17th- 18th January 1943 which crashed at Westerham in Kent.

This is a very rare to find from a German bomber shot down over Kent MG15 machine gun flexible machine gun mount cradle from one of the defensive gun positions around the cockpit area.

The mount which has clear to see maker stamps and part number that can be seen on it which is steel and aluminium made with lots of original black paintwork remains. The mount is rusty and dirty in places after its recovery but nothing to bad at all but has jammed solid after the impact of the crash.The part is in nice lovely condition with original colours it has been very well cleaned but could be cleaned up more maybe even to work again.The part is perfect for display or any collection and is very solid not breaking up or crumbling but has ripped and bent in the crash and is still a very solid relic and very rare to get in such nice condition and is 11 inches by 6 inches wide. The mount is from German Dornier DO 217 bomber work number 5591 on the night of the 17th- 18th January 1943 at 04.30. The mount comes with 3 x A5 laminated information cards showing the gun on the mount in the cockpit.

The bomber was shot down by RAF night fighter the Dornier crashed in to a chalk pit at Pilgrims House, Westerham in Kent. The magazine comes with 3x A5 laminated information cards. The Dornier was on a night raid over England when it was intercepted by RAF Beaufighter of number 29 squadron flown by Wing Commander C.M Wightboycott and Flying Officer E.A Sanders.
