This is a lovely condition group of parts which there is not much about from this particular German Messerschmitt 110 shot down in the Battle of Britain. This is a group of 3 airframe sections and engine parts one has maker marked all still with a lot there original colours and paintwork really lovely clean parts that have been very well cleaned.The parts have ripped and bent up by the crash they are 5-6 inches long and are perfect for display or any collection.The parts come from German Messerschmitt 110 of 1/ZG26 work number 2146 the fighter-bomber was shot down by RAF Hurricanes at 9.30am on the 6th of September 1940 during the Battle of Britain.
This Messerschmitt 110 was on Escort sortie for ErproGr./210 over Kenley Airfield. The aircraft crashed at Cannons Hill Golf Course near Coulsdon in Surrey. The crew, Unteroffizier Kiehn was killed and Unteroffizier Neusz bailed out unhurt and taken prisoner of war and come with 2xA5 laminated information cards with crash site picture.
Major recovery of the aircraft which a Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine was found, propeller boss, undercarriage, weapons, and cockpit instruments. This recovery was conducted by the London Air Museum in 1976.Further excavation in 1984 by Chris Bennett uncovered more of the engine and propeller. Residents in 2020 reported finding metal fragments in the back garden of a house on Canons Hill, adjacent to the golf course.
