Section of case,hydraulic or pneumatic pressure regulator from float,bilge system on German Heinkel He 115c work number 3251,crashed 15th August 1940 that was dazzled by searchlights over Scotland
This is a rare relic from the famous German seaplane it is section of case from the hydraulic or pneumatic pressure regulator from the float or bilge management system in the underbelly of the aircraft.
The part which still has its Argos pipework fitting still attached which has some maker markings the part retains its lovely original colours with some original black paintwork and is in fantastic relic condition overall lovely condition it has ripped off by the impact of the crash but is very solid and has been very nicely cleaned it is perfect for display or any collection and is 5 inches long and 4 inches wide in size. And there is not many parts around from this aircraft.
The parts come from German Heinkel He 115c work number 3251 which crashed at 4.04am on the 15th August 1940 the plane was dazzled by searchlights during sortie over Montrose and flew into the Ground at Faldiehill Farm near Arbroath. The section comes with 2 x A5 laminated information cards with crash site picture.
The plane S4+BH was from the 1./Küstenfliegergruppe 506 (Coastal Flying Group 506). The wreckage was discovered by a farm worker walking to work early in the morning the crew still in the aircraft were Oberfeldwebel R Holfert and Feldwebel P.Schroers both dead and Leutnant Zur See H-E Tonne captured severely injured but was still alive. Along with his dead comrades, Tonne was transported to hospital in Arbroath where he died shortly after. All three were subsequently buried at Arbroath East cemetery.
