This is a Supercharger intake duct with manifold pressure pickup which is a lovely recognizable part of Battle of Britain Messerschmitt 109. This part which is complete but rusty with some green undercoat paintwork remains it is in nice condition and is undamaged by the impact crash with its large retaining ring it is in relic but solid condition and has been nicely cleaned perfect for display or any collection and is 8 inches long by 7 inches in size. The part comes from Daimler-Benz 601 engine on German Messerschmitt BF 109E-1 work number 3895 of 6/JG27, shot down at 4.40pm on 30th September 1940 during the battle of Britain. The part comes with 2 x A5 laminated information sheets with pilots photograph.

The Messerschmitt’s engine was set alight in surprise fighter attack while it was on bomber escort duty on a raid over London, shot down by RAF Hurricane piloted by Czechoslovakian Ace Josel Frantisek 303 squadron.

The abandoned Messerschmitt crashed and burned out at Holmans Grove, Grayswood near Haslemere the pilot Leutnant H Schmidt bailed out and captured unhurt.

He was the highest scoring non British ace in the Battle of Britain, 303 Squadron had 126 confirmed kills in the Battle of Britain - the most successful record for a RAF squadron in this period. Frantisek, with his 17 kills was best pilot of the squadron.
