This is an internal fuel tank or inspection cap, a rare piece with much of its original sand paint still intact. The cap is in relic but solid condition, complete with all screw threads intact. It is rusty but stable and has been carefully cleaned. Measuring over 6 inches in diameter, it is ideal for display or any military collection.
The cap was recovered near the village of Plota, close to Prokhorovka, on the battlefield of Kursk in 1943 the site of the largest tank battle of the war and the last major German offensive on the Eastern Front in Russia. It comes with an A5 laminated information card.
