This is a hammer head which is missing its wooden handle from a tool box from the engine room in the uboat. The medium size head is 4 inches long and are rusty but solid and is a nice condition part which is perfect for display or any collection. The hammer head comes from inside German U-boat number U-534. This was sunk by RAF Liberator bombers in the Katteget sea off Denmark on the 5th May 1945 in the last days of the War.The hammer head comes with A5 laminated information sheet with pictures.

German submarine U-534 Type IXC/40 U-boat for Germany's Kriegsmarine built in 1942 in Hamburg-Finkenwerder (Deutsche Werft AG - yard number 352). Launched 23rd September 1942 and commissioned on 23rd December in the same year.
