This is a large Glass-framed very rare Crewman’s uniform jacket section which is the stitched over top pocket which was done by the crewman himself at avoid snagging or catching anything in the aircraft when he is in a hurry it was recovered from the cockpit of the night fighter.
The jacket pocket has partly discoloured and stained from being buried but are still in very solid condition not braking up or falling apart it has been carefully cleaned and bit damaged and ripped apart by the impact of the crash. It is presented in a large glass-fronted frame, complete with background information and numerous photographs and pictures , making it perfect for display.
The frame measures 17 inches by 13 inches in size. The part comes from the cockpit of German Junkers JU88 bomber work number 0345.This was a night fighter of 4/NJG2 which was on a night intruder sortie over East Anglia, England on the 17th April 1941 and the night fighter crashed and exploded near Peterborough.
The crash remains a mystery as there are British fighter claims of a ju88 for that night and its was not shot down by Anti-aircraft fire. The plane crashed late in the night at Hurns Farm, Gedney Hill near Peterborough.
