Glass framed German rifle grenade wooden crate packing label, dated 1943 that was recovered in the early 2000’s from a rubbish pit on Hill 192 near Saint Lo in Normandy the battle of early July 1944.

This is a nice glass framed German rifle grenade wooden crate packing label which is dated 1943 and has most of its original markings This label still retains its original colours but is dirty and stained from being buried but is solid not crumbling or braking up and has been mounted in a glass fronted frame measuring 13 inches long by 13 inches wide. The part has many pictures also diagram and map of the battlefield making it perfect for display or a collection. The zeltbahn section was recovered in the early 2000’s from a rubbish pit on Hill 192 near Saint Lo in Normandy the battle of early July 1944.

Hill 192 with its overwhelming views on Saint-Lô and the surrounding area, by the 10th July 1944 the Americans reached the bottom of the hill and the roads it overlooked. The hill is defended by the paratroopers of the German Fallschirmjäger Regiment 5 and the Fallschirmjäger Regiment 9 part of the 3rd Fallschirmjäger-Division also Self-propelled guns and German tanks of the Panzer Lehr Division.
