This is a German soldiers Wound Badge in black, made from steel. It is in solid condition, retaining a small amount of its original black paint, with the swastika partially visible on the front and back. The pin is still attached but has snapped off. The medal has some dirt from its recovery but has been carefully cleaned, making it a nice battlefield relic, ideal for display or any collection.
The medal was recovered from a field near Trun, which we think was a pit dug by the allies where lots of German equipment was thrown in and buried after the battle in the Falaise Pocket, Normandy in France 1944. A nice, rare relic from the famous Normandy battlefield and it comes with A5 laminated information sheet.
