Lovely condition German Wehrmacht 2cm ammunition crate,maker labels, bought on a local military fair in Arnhem in 2025 it was found locally in the Arnhem area used in the battle of September 1944

This is a lovely condition German Wehrmacht 2cm ammunition crate for 100 rounds of 20mm anti-aircraft ammunition fired by for Flak 30/38 anti-aircraft gun. The box was made in 1937 and has a label with last pack date of 8th September 1944. The crate is in very nice condition, with the wood still retaining all of its original green paintwork with some very minor damage but nothing bad it is 26 inches long by 10 inches wide. The original tin liner is still in place, confirming it as the airtight version. The crate remains solid, not breaking up or falling apart. It has experienced some woodworm, but this has been treated, and the box is well preserved and overall fantastic condition. It is has small maker mark which is present on the side with the date 1937. Both hinges are intact and in good condition; both the locks do not work and the lid opens and closes without issue. The metal carry handles are also present. Inside there are 3 paper labels all with lovely maker markings and the last pack dated a couple of weeks before the battle of Arnhem started there are some knocks and marks from use, but nothing significant. This is a fine example of this unusual ammunition crate which are perfect for display or any collection.The crate comes with 2 x A5 laminated information cards.

The box held 100 rounds of 2cm Incendiary High Explosive Ammunition in brass cases with yellow tracer. (Sprenggranat Patronen gelb Tracer L'spur). These shells were the thinner walled cases so the round had extra charge inside for more penetrating power Also, with a label advising to oil the cases before they are used.
