German Wehrmacht soldiers M42 steel helmet with lots paintwork on it, recovered from a lake East of Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45
This is a lovely German M42 steel helmet still with lots of is Army green paintwork all over the shell. The helmet is relic and with rust and rust holes but nothing to bad it has been well protected by the silt from the lake. The helmet is still very solid not braking up or falling apart with lots of original green paintwork very clear to see and some original colours and has been very well cleaned even with some chemicals to help preserve it and make the paint stand out.The helmet has no liner but is maker stamped on the back rim but very hard to see and as is a rare one to get from the battlefield to be recovered in such good condition.The helmet was recovered from a lake East of Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45 .The helmet comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with map
The helmet was recovered from a lake which was used as a dump site for battlefield clearance. Also, the area attacked by by the German Panzer Lehr Division and the 26th Volksgrenadier Division during the battle itself.
