This is a German WWII Verbandkasten (medical box) with some original paint remaining. It has been thoroughly cleaned, though traces of dirt and grime remain. The box is rusty and in relic condition but remains solid and intact, making it ideal for display or a collection.
The box is nearly complete, with a few rust holes in the lid. The lid is loose, the hinge is broken, and the locks are present but do not function. Battlefield-recovered examples like this are extremely rare.
This box was recovered near the village of Plota, south of Prokhorovka, site of the major tank battle on 12th July 1943, during the last major German offensive in the East. It comes with an A5 laminated information card detailing its history.
