This is a German steel projectile with brass driving bands fired by 9cm Kanone 1873 field gun which is a rarer type to find. The steel projectile is missing its fuse but does still retain the brass driving bands which are still the brass colour in places but have been partly over painted. The projectile is undamaged but has been over painted grey to protect it has been very well cleaned and is completely empty and inert. Overall perfect condition for display and rare for any collection. The projectile was recovered many years ago on the Somme battlefield of 1916-1918.
