This is a German steel shell case with brass driving bands for 9cm Kanone 1873 field gun. The steel case, retains the driving bands which are still the brass colour in places but have been partly overpainted. The case is undamaged but has been over painted grey to protect it. The case has been very well cleaned and is completely empty and inert. Overall perfect condition for display and rare for any collection. The shell case was recovered on the Somme battlefield of 1916-1918.
