This is a German battle damaged mg 34/42 single ammunition tin a patronenkasten 34 with a 41 pattern steel lid this must have been a field repair by the soldiers themselves late war re used for emergency use in the battle. The tin which is in lovely relic condition only rusty on the lid but with no rust holes the lock is broken but the tin lid does open and close properly and it does still have its handle in place. The tin has a small impact hit on one of the side panels it still has lots of original colour and black paintwork that can be seen on the aluminium made can.The can has been very well cleaned it is very solid not braking up or falling apart a very nice example of this mg ammunition tin battlefield recovered.The tin was recovered many years ago near the Town of Saint Vith from the battle of mid December 1944 in the Ardennes Forest during the Battle of the Bulge. The tin comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards.
