This is the remains of a German K98 rifle winter trigger. The trigger is largely complete and in relic, rusty condition, but remains very solid it is not breaking up or falling apart. It has been carefully cleaned and is ideal for display or any collection. Surviving in this condition is unusual, as the part is made from thin metal.

The trigger was recovered from a rubbish pit, likely dug either by the Germans during the battle or during post-battle clearance, near the town of Osweiler in Luxembourg. This area was attacked by the German 212 Volksgrenadier Division during the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945, part of the Ardennes Offensive and Hitlers last offensive in the West. The trigger comes with an A5 laminated information card.

The 212 Volksgrenadier Division was formed in October 1944, partially from the 578 Volksgrenadier Division. It fought on the Western Front, suffering heavy losses during the Battle of the Bulge and at the Siegfried Line, and ultimately surrendered to US forces at the end of the war.
