This is a German high explosive shell projectile was fired by 7.62cm pak [36]r anti-tank gun which was the captured Russian 76.2mm ZIS 3 anti-tank gun in German service.

The projectile is in very nice condition with no fuse or markings also with no paintwork remains it still has its driving band that is still there, the projectile is lightly pitted with no holes or damage but is very heavily rusty but is still very solid. The projectile is completely empty and inert it has been well cleaned and overall nice condition for display and a unusual one for any collection. The projectile was recovered from the area of the Psel River, south of Kursk on the Voronezh front. This area was defended by 5th Guards Army against the German 2nd SS Panzer corps during the battle part of Operation Citadel the German Kursk offensive in July-August 1943 in Russia. The projectile comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with a map.

The name indicated the primary geographical region in which the front first fought, based on the town of Voronezh on the Don River. The front was established at the end of June 1942 when the German 6th Army reached Voronezh during the early stages of Operation Blau. The Voronezh Front participated in the battle of Voronezh, the defensive operations on the approaches to Stalingrad, and in the December 1942 , the follow-on to the encirclement of German 6th Army at Stalingrad. In the battle of Kursk in July- August 1943, the front operated on the southern shoulder, during which it commanded the Battle of Prokhorovka its self on the Soviet side.
