This is a German Gebirgsjager 7.5 cm shell case powder charge bag which was last packed on the 21st September 1944 and has all of its original maker markings on the front and the back all clear to see it was fired by the 7.5cm Gebirgsgeschütz 36 mountain gun
The silk bag has some rust on it from the shell case it is in nice condition for relic the silk is solid not braking up or falling apart it still retains some of its original colour but it is dirty and stained from being buried inside the case it is a nice size at 3 half inches wide. It has been very nicely cleaned and in nice solid condition perfect for a collection or any display.the bag was recovered near lake Balston in Hungary. The bag was inside a shell properly used by the 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar (1st Croatian). The bag comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with map.
The ss Handschar division defended this area of the Margarethe Line ware the bag was found this area which was a series of fixed defensive works south of Lake Balaton is ware the ss Handschar division held up the Soviet advance for as long as they could. After several Red Army assaults were repulsed, static trench warfare developed between December 1944 and January 1945.
