German fired and blown panzerschreck anti-tank rocket launcher projectile rear section used by soldiers in the Panzer Lehr Division, recovered, Longvilly road area near Bastogne 1944 Ardennes
This is a rare to find from the battlefield German fired and blown panzerschreck anti-tank rocket launcher projectile rear section.The rocket tail fin has blown off in the explosion after being fired. The piece is empty and inert, deactivated by condition. The rocket section is solid and in relic condition the metal is pitted and rusty but overall remains in very good condition for display or inclusion in any collection. It has been carefully cleaned. The rocket was fired by soldiers in the Panzer Lehr Division. The projectile was recovered in the Longvilly road area near Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of December 1944.The item comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards with photographs.
The battle took place on the 19th December 1944 when an American force under Colonel Cherry came under attack by German Panzer Lehr Division along the road between Longvilly and Bastogne the Americans lost around 200 vehicles in the battle.
