German carry box or Rundblickfehrnrohr – Rbl.F. 16 scope carry box used by Flak 36/37/41 anti-aircraft-anti-tank gun against ground targets, recovered from a lake near Bastogne, Ardennes Forest 1944
This is a German carry box or Rundblickfehrnrohr – Rbl.F. 16 scope carry box used by Flak 36/37/41 anti-aircraft-anti-tank gun against ground targets The box is empty and is rusty on the outside but with no rust holes or real damage but no paintwork either but does still have its leather carry strap attached to the lid. On the inside it still retains most of original colours and some paintwork even with its leather holding strap still in place.The box still have some dirt attached from the recovery but been cleaned and is in nice solid condition and is perfect for display or any collection which is a unusual find from the battlefield. The box was recovered from a lake East of Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45. The lens come with A5 laminated information card.
The box was recovered from a lake which was used as a dump site for battlefield clearance the area where the lake is, was attacked by the German 26th Volksgrenadier Division and elements of the Panzer Lehr Division they had the only anti-aircraft guns in the area.
