This is a nice recovered German M40 steel helmet which is rare to find recovered with maker markings,size stamp clear to see inside the back rim. The helmet is in nice relic condition and which is rusty and a bit heaver rust in places and with rust damage holes in the top of it. The helmet is still very solid not braking up or falling apart with some of its original green paintwork remains very clear to see and some original colours also some faint remains of the army eagle decal and has been very well cleaned it has no liner but does have liner ring remains and is a nice one to get a battlefield which is perfect for display or any collection.The helmet which was worn by soldier in the 6th Panzer Army that was recovered near the town of Plzeň (Pilsen) in Czechoslovakia. This is where the German 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich and elements of the 6th Panzer Army surrendered to the Americans at wars end in May 1945.The helmet comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with map.

The remnants of the 6th Panzer Army and the 2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich" largely surrendered to the American forces in Czechoslovakia (specifically around the area west of Prague and near Pilsen) in May 1945. The main body of the divisions surrendered around May 8-9, 1945, after the general German surrender was signed.
