German Army M35 steel helmet,lots of paintwork,double decal worn by soldier in the 6th Panzer Army, recovered near Plzeň in Czechoslovakia where German SS Panzer Division Das Reich surrendered in 1945
This is a lovely recovered German M40 steel helmet which is very rare to find with very clear to see Army eagle and tri colour shield decal remains and on the inside of the back rim clear to see maker stamp size even white painted maker stamp as well. The helmet is in very nice relic condition which is rusty and a bit heaver rust in places and with only some light rust damage and small holes in it a couple of larger holes down one side. The helmet is still very solid not braking up or falling apart with lots of its original green paintwork remains very clear to see and some original colours it has been very well cleaned it has no liner and is a very rare one to get a battlefield with this amount of paintwork and decal which is perfect for display or any collection.The helmet which was worn by soldier in the 6th Panzer Army that was recovered near the town of Plzeň (Pilsen) in Czechoslovakia. This is where the German 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich and elements of the 6th Panzer Army surrendered to the Americans at wars end in May 1945.The helmet comes with 2xA5 laminated information cards with map.
The remnants of the 6th Panzer Army and the 2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich" largely surrendered to the American forces in Czechoslovakia (specifically around the area west of Prague and near Pilsen) in May 1945. The main body of the divisions surrendered around May 8-9, 1945, after the general German surrender was signed.
